Just as we give depth to a graphic image by making it 3D, we can also give depth to  music  or sound. In 2D sound, when a sound is heard, for example, the sound of a door opening, this sound is played and heard through two speakers and naturally from in front of you. But 3D sound allows you to hear the sound of the door opening from behind.

This medium of audio files, holophonic or 3D, is called Holophonic Sound and this type of sound design is called Binaural Recording. In this case, we have a spherical and completely 3D experience of sounds. The distance of the sound source and even their angle with our ears can be understood correctly. In Holophonic Sound, there is no need for advanced equipment to listen to audio files and we can perceive sounds in 3D just by putting on the same ordinary headphones.

3D audio or music is actually stereo multimedia files in MP3 or MP4 format. These files work by having two channels to store sound, and when the file is played, the data from both channels is played.

If two audio channels have similar content, the sound output from the speaker channels will be the same. However, if the two channels have different data, the sound output will not be the same and will be different.

One common way to make sound 3D is to open and play a regular stereo file with special audio editing software and change the volume in proportion to the rhythm of the sound in the two channels in such a way that at a certain time both sound channels do not have the same volume. As a result, the volume output from each speaker channel will be different from the other, causing our ears to hear a 3D sound. One of these software is Gold Wave.
